Business Principles for our Suppliers
Thorogood is committed to Responsible Sourcing across the globe and combatting Slavery and Human Trafficking as identified in the Modern Slavery Act 2015. The definition of Responsible Sourcing, according to the International Chamber of Commerce is “a voluntary commitment by companies to take into account social and environmental considerations when managing their relationships with suppliers”. Modern Slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It takes various forms, such as slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour and human trafficking.
We are committed to ethical business practices within Thorogood and throughout our supply chain. Thorogood has taken part in a Responsible Sourcing audit, conducted by Bureau Veritas, to ensure we are following best practices in ethical trade; this covers the key areas of labour standards, health & safety, the environment and business practices, specifically:
- Business must be conducted lawfully and with integrity
- Work must be conducted on the basis of freely agreed & documented terms of employment
- All workers must be treated equally & with respect & dignity
- Work must be conducted on a voluntary basis
- All workers must be of an appropriate age
- All workers must be paid fair wages
- Working hours for all workers must be reasonable
- All workers must be free to exercise their right to form &/or join trade unions or to refrain from doing so & to bargain collectively
- Workers’ health & safety must be protected at work
- Workers must have access to fair procedures & remedies
- Land rights of communities, including indigenous peoples, must be protected & promoted
- Business must be conducted in a manner which embraces sustainability & reduces environmental impact
We expect our suppliers to operate in a way that would not jeopardize our ethical trading position.
